A home built by Compass Homes isn’t possible without the work of our outstanding building partners.  These partners are incredibly invaluable to us, and our Vendor Spotlight is our way to share these high-quality businesses with you, and to say “thank you” for their work.

We recently had the opportunity to talk with Stephanie Blazer, a Design Consultant and Marketing Manager for Home Source Custom Draperies and Blinds. Locally owned, Home Source Interiors serves Columbus and surrounding areas and takes pride in its long-term commitment to the community. “We are here now and we’ll be here in the future, when you need us again.” They have been partnering with Compass Homes for more than 10 years, and help new homeowners select the window treatments for their home.

Home Source Interiors carries a wide selection of window treatments, including Hunter Douglas sheers and shadings, various types of shades, shutters and blinds. But their people are what really make the difference. Whether shopping for a single window covering or redecorating an entire house, Home Source has a team of people with the knowledge and expertise to help their clients bring their vision to reality.

What does your typical day include?

My day-to-day consists of meeting with clients in their home or in our showroom, and recommending proper window treatment solutions to meet their homes’ needs. I also handle our advertising and marketing campaigns, and maintain our showroom with current Hunter Douglas products and other display units and visual merchandising.

Why do you enjoy working with Compass Homes?

We truly believe in the quality of home they build and have always had great relationships with their team. They have always been supporters of our company and helping us grow.

What are the top trends in your industry right now?

Motorization is a huge trend. Many new home buyers like the feature but don’t know that during the build process the home and windows can be hardwired to provide power to the units without having to rely on batteries. This step is typically done prior to drywalling the home.

What sets your company and its products apart within your industry?

Our service is a huge part of what sets us apart from our competitors. We take care of our clients needs throughout the sales and installation process, as well as helping them to maintain the functionality and beauty of the shades after the sale for years to come. Our products also speak for themselves. Hunter Douglas is the highest quality and most innovative window treatment company in the industry.

What advice would you share with Compass Homes homeowners and potential homeowners?

Consider having the windows hardwired prior to the drywall phase even if you’re not sure if you want to cover certain windows or if you even plan to motorize them all. Start thinking about the window treatments early on in the process. Many new home buyers are focused on the build and everything that goes along with it, but then find themselves in a “fishbowl” without any privacy during the first couple months of living in their new home. Custom products do take a little more time than off the shelf, but the wait will be worth it.

What are three words you would use to describe your partnership with Compass?

Supportive, quality, innovative

What do you think the next big trend will be in your industry?

Increasing the automations and voice controls of the motorized shades without having to use separate devices. Also, focusing more on softness through fabric. Many buyers equate window treatments with “wood/faux wood blinds”, but that is only a small category of the Hunter Douglas product offerings. More and more people are tending to go softer, cleaner lines and using the shades to make a statement and to add décor to their homes.
