Prep Your Guest Room for Holiday Guests

Examples of how you can prep your guest room for holiday guests.

Santa is coming to town! And so are your out-of-town guests.

Whether you are hosting routine company or prepping for a first-time visitor, it’s the perfect opportunity to show off your home and all of the many upgrades & improvements you’ve made throughout the year.

However, it’s all too easy to find yourself fussing over the common areas and food preparation that you overlook the place your guests will be actually staying–the guest bedroom.

Consider these four tips to get you started, setting up a space that your guests will write home about and want to stay in for years to come:

1. Get Cozy

There’s nothing worse than staying overnight in a cold room with inadequate pillows and blankets. So, bring on the layers!

Create comfort by incorporating flannel sheets, throw blankets, or quilts that will have your guests sleeping like babies. Although be warned that if your guest bed is too cozy, you risk your visitors never leaving.

2. Sprinkle in the Season

It’s never a bad idea to spruce up the space with some festive decor. A few trinkets, sparkling lights, and a holiday pillow or blanket can really go a long way in making your guest’s stay a bit more magical.

3. Stock up on the Essentials

Inevitably, someone will forget a toothbrush or a comb, so it’s always a good idea to have extra toiletries on hand. Check out this list to ensure you don’t miss any necessities.

After you have all the basics, one way that you can really go the extra mile for your guests is by having some larger items on hand like hair dryers or white noise machines that might save some space in their suitcases.

4. Leave a Special Surprise

If you are looking to particularly wow your out-of-town friends & family, leaving a small gift on the bed or coffee table can really elevate their experience. Consider small stocking-stuffers like fuzzy socks or sweet treats to leave on the bed or nightstand. (And maybe pick up a little something for yourself while you’re at it.)

Last, but not least, don’t forget to kick back and relax and enjoy your time with your guests!
