Tell us about how you got your start at Compass Homes

My family and I recently moved to the area from Zionsville, Indiana, and I was looking for a new career in Interior Design. Part of my background is new construction, so I came across Compass Homes’ website and sent in my resume. Pamela responded right away and we started the interview process.

What are your day-to-day roles and responsibilities

Talking and meeting with potential/current clients to help guide them through the process of building their dream home. Working through custom floor plan design with our team. I also hold open houses on the weekends at our current spec homes which are like “pop up” models.

Please tell us about your educational / professional history before joining Compass Homes

I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Interior Design and I worked in the Interior Design Industry in Indianapolis, Indiana for 15 years before relocating to Ohio. My career was in Residential and Light Commercial Flooring with a focus on New Construction Projects in the Greater Indianapolis area.

What personal qualities do you have that help you to be successful in your role at Compass Homes?

I think my love for Interior Design, Architecture, and Art has always fueled my passion for not only my career, but personal qualities, as well. Outside of work, I love to paint, read, take photographs, and be creative. My husband, daughter, and I recently renovated a 1931 Craftsman Bungalow when we moved to Ohio. It was a huge project for us to take on, but with my eye for design and architecture combined with my husband’s handy carpenter skills, we gave our old house a huge refresh and it made it much more functional for our lifestyle. It gave me the hands-on experience of rebuilding a home and going through the construction process more personally.  I also love meeting new people, hearing their stories, and seeing their dream home become a reality. Being a part of something like that has a huge impact on our clients and their families and is something I get to do that is bigger than myself, while allowing me to do what I love and see their vision come to life.

What makes Compass Homes different from other home builders like yours?

I have worked in new construction my entire career and I can honestly say that it has been rare to find a team more passionate and detail oriented than the folks at Compass Homes. We are truly a team that consistently works together, moving our client’s visions forward every day. Everyone at Compass Homes has an important role and we all work together to make sure our clients are taken care of, respected, and that each part of the project flows smoothly from one phase to the next.

What excites you about the future of Compass Homes?

Continuing to build homes, neighborhoods, and improve our communities for our clients to live.

What are the three things you can’t live without?

My family, coffee, and books.

How do you like to spend your free time when you are not working?

I enjoy spending time with my family and our dogs, going on walks or hikes someplace with a beautiful view. I love to read novels and paint. I also enjoy traveling and exploring new wineries.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?

Everything happens for a reason – continue to look forward, not backwards, and you will see.
