Compass Homes, your Columbus custom home builders, is excited to bring you a Parade Home like no other in 2016. We are always thinking of ways to motivate & inspire people, and our partnership with multiple central Ohio designers should do just that!
We are excited to profile local designer, Cheryl Garrett.
We asked Cheryl a few questions so that you can get to know her design style & know what to look for in the Parade of Homes this year!
How long have you been in the field of design?
CG: I’ve been in the design field for over 20 years! Currently I am co-owner of Home Source Interiors, which is a window fashion store located on 315 just 1 block north of the Worthington Hills traffic light.
What was your very first project?
CG: My first project was doing an entire wall of floor to ceiling draperies…and it was the first time I had ever made draperies! Yikes! But they came out beautifully.
What inspires you?
CG: I love doing something different! I always think outside of the box. I HATE cookie cutter design.
What do you believe is good design?
CG: Good design is anything inviting, a bit edgy, and a little surprising!
Where is your favorite place to shop or get ideas?
CG: The hardware store!
Why did you decide to participate in the Parade of Homes?
CG: Home Source Interiors, offering the full line of Hunter Douglass products, has been providing the window fashions for Compass Homes for every Parade since 2010. They are a great company to work with and this year we have expanded to showcasing Tupperware in the Pantry of this year’s home!
What are you most looking forward to designing for this year’s Parade of Homes?
CG: The Kitchen/Morning room because of the amazing soft treatments, Powerview blinds, and black shutters that we are designing for the space. I can’t wait to incorporate the best Tupperware has to offer, which will be all black and white items, into the pantry space.
Any other information you want to share with us?
CG: In 2015, I turned the day to day operations of Home Source over to my husband and children and spent the year pursuing my other passion: cooking. I took two trips to Italy over several months, and returned to the U.S. with my Professional Masters Certificate in Italian Cuisine. I now offer catering through my new company, Capers, as well as cooking classes. My most popular classes are: Homemade Pasta 101, Italian Pizza, French Pastry, and my new Grillin’ Gals class. I will be conducting a cooking class in the Compass Homes’ Model Home at the BIA Parade of Homes in Powell, Ohio this September.
We hope you enjoyed getting to know more about Cheryl Garrett! Stay tuned to Compass Homes, your new home builders Powell, to read about more of our amazing 2016 Parade Home designers as we continue to profile them on our blog and Facebook page.
