Summertime in Columbus is home to a handful of events that residents look forward to every year – the Compass Homes team included! From festivals to concerts to daytime markets, there’s a lot going on, and you don’t want to miss out on any of it.
Here are a few of our favorite summertime events in Worthington and Powell that will give you a taste of all these communities have to offer.
Summer Events in Worthington
Concerts on the Green (Sundays through Aug 11)
What better way to close out the weekend than with a little outdoor music? Happening every Sunday from May 19th to August 11th at 7pm, Concerts on the Green are the perfect chance to groove to some great music. Head on over to the Northwest Village Green and BYOB (bring your own blankets) for a fun evening of family-friendly performances you won’t want to miss.
Worthington ‘Sunday Fundays’ (July 21, August 11)
Another staple event series in the Worthington community are ‘Sunday Fundays’, hosted once a month from June to November. Located in Worthington’s historic district, these themed events are known for their cuisine, entertainment, and exclusive offers.
Yoga/KidsYoga on the Green (July 8th and July 20th)
Increase balance, coordination, flexibility, energy, focus, and perhaps find a new passion! GoYoga is offering FREE yoga classes on The Village Green in July. The Flow class is inspired by Vinyasa Yoga, a style characterized by dynamic movements synced to breath and often referred to as meditation in motion. July 8th is a special KidsYoga class.
Four parks are included in the designation that Worthington Parks and Recreation uses for Olentangy River Parklands, which includes Winding Adventure Skate Park, Whitney Playground, and Highgate Playground. These are all connected by the multi-purpose trail that runs along the river, including open fields and mulched trails, which are enjoyed by dogs and their people!
Summer Events in Powell
Powell Farmer’s Markets (Saturdays through Oct 5)
If you’re a fan of weekly farmer’s markets (like us), check out Powell’s. Swing by Liberty Street near downtown Powell every Saturday from 9 am to noon and explore what the local vendors have to offer. It’s a great way to support the community while treating yourself to some fantastic produce and other finds!
Located at 5094 Seldom Seen Rd, Emily Traphagen Park provides a respite from the suburban development around it with its tall trees, wetlands, pond, and meadows. The park is part of the Delaware County Preservation Parks, and with its proximity to the Scioto River, attracts waterfowl, such as mallards, kingfishers, wood ducks, and great blue herons. It also offers three paved trails, a playground, and shelter so you can make a day of it in the beautiful outdoors.
Combine waterpark fun with movie-nights this summer. Hosted at the waterpark’s Wild Tides Wave Pool every Friday’s from 5pm – 10pm, week will feature a different family-friendly flick, poolside entertainment, and inflatable games for the whole family to enjoy.
Whether you’re an art, music, or food fan, we hope you and your family try out a few of these exciting events this summer.
